Picture from Wadi Rum Desert Camp
Wadi Rum desert has a lot of different camps. There are some luxury ones and a lot of simple, cheaper options. Only local bedouins who were born and raised in the area can build their camps in Wadi Rum. Most of them also have houses in Rum village. This is the camp in Wadi Rum desert where I was staying during my trip in Jordan:

Tips for Wadi Rum desert
Wadi Rum desert is unique place on Earth. It looks like you are visiting a Moon during your trip there. Huge land of sand and rocks, not so many people and local bedouins in their traditional outfits. That's what Wadi Rum is.
What to do in Wadi Rum?
There are a lot of things what to do in Wadi Rum. Expert rock climbers can go rock climbing on huge rock faces, hikers can do unlimited kilometers in the desert, sightseers can enjoy dozens of interesting natural objects in the desert including rock mushroom, Khazali canyon, Lawrence house, Lawrence spring and other stuff. Tourists can also enjoy jeep tours or camel riding in the desert which is a unique and fun attraction to try while in Jordan.
Wadi Rum entrance fee and general advice
The fee to enter Wadi Rum area is not that expensive, it costs only 5 JD and it is included in your Jordan Pass if you have one. You will spend more money for the bedouin tours and accommodation in the camp.
If you are taking tours from Amman or Petra make sure that the people with whom you booked the tour are bringing you to the real Wadi Rum desert, not the fake one outside of Wadi Rum. Only real bedouins who were born in the desert can organise the tours in Wadi Rum.
Another important advice before coming to the desert is not to spend too much time in Rum village. There is nothing to do for you except you want to volunteer in Wadi Rum, then you can find a bedouin who is interested in this there. Othertwise there is nothing to do as there are only couple of shops where bedouins buy the stuff for the tours and Zarb.
